Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yrjo Karhula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Can (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yrjo Karhula!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tom Can!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Can, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Karhula avoids a punch combination nicely.
A decent looking cross lands there for Can.
Can misses with a wild combination.
Tom Can seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karhula on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Can. Can obviously looking to wear him down.
Can tries to bum rush Karhula with a series of wild strikes but Karhula uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Can will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Can fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Can throws a series of punches but Karhula avoids them all with ease.
Can misses with a two punch combination.
Can goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Can scores with a nice body kick.
Can tries to bum rush Karhula with a series of wild strikes but Karhula uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Karhula fails with the takedown.
Karhula dodges the punch combination from Can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Karhula shoots for a takedown but Can saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Can throws a left that rocks Karhula and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Can dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Karhula regain composure!


It looks like Yrjo Karhula has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Karhula is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Can working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Karhula manages to get back to half guard.
Karhula is breathing heavily.
Karhula is not content to let Can control the position.

Karhula looking for submissions off his back.
Can is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karhula looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Karhula looking for submissions off his back.
Can works his way into side control.
Can scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Karhula to see if he's OK.

Can lands a decent elbow from side control.
Karhula is letting Can control him for a moment.
Can scoring with punches and elbows.
Karhula is trying to improve his position.

Can stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Can misses with a head kick.
A combination from Can does no damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Can dominated that round.

Can looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Can throws a series of punches but Karhula avoids them all with ease.
Can throws a push kick but Karhula slaps the foot to one side.
Can throws a head kick but Karhula moves out of range.
Can throws a nice looking combination but Karhula bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Can throws a right hand that Karhula ducks under and follows up with a left that Karhula also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Can throws a head kick but Karhula moves out of range.
A left and a right from Can both land. Nice combination.

Can clinches with his opponent.
Can lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Karhula looking for a takedown.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Karhula is trying to drag Can to the mat but Can just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Karhula jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Can walks away with a smile on his face. Karhula gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yrjo Karhula. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Karhula takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Can throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Karhula.

Can gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Can is on top in guard.
Can landing some decent shots from guard.
Can connects with a couple of short punches.

Karhula working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Can doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Can manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Karhula is working an open guard so Can takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Can throws a nice outside leg kick.

Can throws a quick inside leg kick.
Karhula walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Karhula showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Can.
Can scores with a three punch combo!
Can scores with a nice strike.
Can scoring well with a low kick there.
Can misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Can rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Karhula moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Can clinches.

Can pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nice body punch from Can.
Can misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Can throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Can throws a right and a left that both miss.
Can lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Can showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Tom Can seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Can misses the shot to the body.
Karhula fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Can fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Karhula checks it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Can scores with a three punch combo!

Can misses with a wild combination.
Can throws a sloppy head kick and Karhula moves out of range easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Can bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Can throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Can!

Can darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Can stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Can lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Can throws a sloppy head kick and Karhula moves out of range easily.

Can clinches.

Can breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Can has managed to clinch.
Karhula tries for a takedown. No joy.

Can breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Can lands with a nice combination. Karhula backs away looking to recover.
Can throws a series of strikes that have Karhula backpedaling.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Can thumps Karhula with a low kick.
Can bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Karhula slips a jab and a cross from Can.
Can lands a head kick. Karhula smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Tom Can is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Can throws a head kick but Karhula moves out of range.
Karhula slips a jab and a cross from Can.
Can fails to land with a series of punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tom Can comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Can has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
