PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Crawley (ranked 957 p4p, 995 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 146 p4p, 150 weight class). Crawley comes to the cage accompanied by Jewelry - One More Time. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Billy Crawley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Skip Squint and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crawley slips a jab from Carlos.
Juan Carlos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crawley tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carlos was well out of range. Poor timing from Crawley.
Crawley scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Carlos doesn't seem bothered though.
Crawley takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A head kick misses from Carlos.
Carlos throws a shot to the body.
Crawley connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Carlos throws a low kick but Crawley avoids it.

It looks like Juan Carlos has been cut.
Crawley missing with a left hand there. Carlos was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Carlos misses with an uppercut. Crawley saw that one coming.

Billy Crawley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Carlos shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carlos showed some decent athleticism there.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Carlos displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crawley throws out the jab.

Crawley looks to score with a jab to the body but Carlos is just out of range.
Carlos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A quick step to the side and Crawley tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Crawley takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Carlos connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Carlos lands a jab-cross combination.
Carlos clobbers Crawley with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Carlos wants to slow Crawley down by chopping away at his legs.
Crawley fires out a quick counter leg kick but Carlos just manages to avoid it.
Carlos keeps the fight on the outside.
Carlos throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crawley.

Carlos throws a hook but Crawley avoids it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Carlos scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Crawley throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Crawley rushes Carlos and presses him up against the cage.
Crawley pushes Carlos back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Crawley breaks the clinch.
Crawley throws a half hearted mid kick.
Carlos drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Crawley defends it well.
Carlos throws a head kick that misses.
Carlos moves out of range as Crawley strikes.
Carlos works Crawley's body with a nice hook.
Carlos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Carlos takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Carlos just misses with a punch to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Crawley tries to score with a low kick but Carlos moves his leg out of the way.
Crawley swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carlos lands with a thumping leg kick.
Carlos throws a nice looking combination but Crawley bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Crawley went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Carlos looks to throw a body kick
and Crawley counters with a thumping low kick.
Carlos checks a leg kick.
A little jabbing left from Carlos on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Carlos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Crawley, as that shot connected.
Carlos throws a leg kick which misses Crawley's front leg but catches the back leg as Crawley tries to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crawley avoids the head kick by Carlos.
Crawley was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
A telegraphed right hand from Carlos misses the target.
It looked like Crawley was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Carlos.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Crawley effectively controlling the action here.

Carlos misses with the head strike.
Crawley swings wildly with an uppercut but Carlos uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carlos misses with a punch to the body.
Carlos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Crawley fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Crawley lands with a short shot to the head.
Carlos cracks Crawley with a nice body shot.
Carlos lands a right hand.
Crawley throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Carloss head.
Crawley lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Crawley gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Carlos is standing up over Crawley. Crawley looks to escape but Carlos dives into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Crawley is looking to reverse the position.
Crawley is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Crawley tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Carlos prevents Crawley from getting the reversal.
Crawley is in a horrible position here. Carlos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Crawley is bucking up trying to escape but Carlos cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Juan Carlos has got the better of the ground game so far.
Crawley is in all sorts of trouble here.

Carlos is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Crawley has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Crawley!
Crawley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Crawley tries to stand but Carlos is controlling from the bottom.
Carlos lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Carlos keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Crawley's head.

Crawley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carlos is controlling him.

Crawley is looking to stand up but Carlos isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carlos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Carlos wants to control from the top but Crawley keeps moving.
Crawley avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Juan Carlos will probably get the nod - 10:9.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Carlos lands a nice shot to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Crawley enables Carlos to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Crawley manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Crawley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Carlos's guard.

Crawley has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Carlos is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlos is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crawley manages to get himself to full guard.

Crawley has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Carlos is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Crawley.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Crawley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Carlos wants to control but Crawley is keeping him busy.
Crawley is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Carlos has just dragged him back down to the mat.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Carlos slows the pace down.
Crawley is not content to let Carlos control the position.
Crawley wants to get back to his feet but Carlos drags him back down.
Carlos working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Crawley wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Carlos remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Billy Crawley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

You can see the frustration on Crawley's face as Carlos controls the position.
Crawley pushes Carlos away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carlos gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Carlos cracks Crawley with an elbow. That is naaassty.

And that's the end of the fight!
Juan Carlos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Carlos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
