PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ravjeet Peitheiyan (ranked 2930 p4p, 3956 weight class) and Hyu Head (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Head has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music. The key to victory for Ravjeet Peitheiyan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 10 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ravjeet Peitheiyan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Hyu Head!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Head tries a head kick but it misses.
Peitheiyan looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Head.
Head controlling the position.

Head tries for a kimura but Peitheiyan is defending well.

Head has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peitheiyan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Head looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Peitheiyan!

Head goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Peitheiyan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Head but great work by Peitheiyan.
Peitheiyan tries to move to mount but Head blocks the move with his legs.
Head throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Peitheiyan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Head tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Peitheiyan presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Peitheiyan unloads with some shots from mount but Head bucks and avoids them well.

Peitheiyan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Head wants to control but Peitheiyan is having none of it.
Peitheiyan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Head is looking to escape.
Head regains half guard.
Head is not content to let Peitheiyan control the position.
Peitheiyan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Peitheiyan is stalling here. Head is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Peitheiyan seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Head has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Head goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Peitheiyan has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Head but great work by Peitheiyan.
Head manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Peitheiyan is trying to control the action in half guard but Head is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Head moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Peitheiyan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Head has control of Peitheiyan's left arm, preventing Peitheiyan from doing any damage.

Head looking to hit a scissor sweep but Peitheiyan is one step ahead there.

Head has his foot on Peitheiyan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Peitheiyan works his way back into a safe position though.
Head wants to get back to his feet but Peitheiyan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Head is looking to stand up but Peitheiyan isn't so interested in that idea.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ravjeet Peitheiyan will probably get the nod.

Head shoots for a double leg takedown but Peitheiyan sprawls well. He's pushed Head's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A nice inside leg kick there by Head. That's going to slow Peitheiyan down.

Head is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Peitheiyan's half guard.
Ravjeet Peitheiyan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Head is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Peitheiyan has managed to free his arm - good work.
Head is keen to just control but Peitheiyan is a slippery customer.

Head is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Peitheiyan is surviving well by controlling Head's body position as best he can.

Head jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Peitheiyan manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Head is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Peitheiyan has escaped the position, nice work there.
Peitheiyan is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Head is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Peitheiyan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Head jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Peitheiyan is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Peitheiyan and Head has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Peitheiyan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Head's best efforts.
Peitheiyan is not content to let Head control the position.
Head looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Peitheiyan wants to control but Head is keeping busy.

Head is looking for a kimura but Peitheiyan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Head to get the leverage.
Head has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Peitheiyan is looking for a sweep. Head is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Head slows the pace down in half guard.

Hyu Head showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Head content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Head working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Peitheiyan's head.
Peitheiyan looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Peitheiyan wants to control but Head passes easily into half guard.

Head is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peitheiyan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Head is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Peitheiyan can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Peitheiyan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Head.

Hyu Head comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Head has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In his post fight interview, Hyu Head started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
