This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 1 losses; Aleksandr Pushkin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 30 losses; Marcelinho Lima! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, John Kavanagh and Franklyn Lucas.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pushkin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Pushkin (2) vs (0) Lima Pushkin is working for a kimura but Lima is defending it quite comfortably.
Pushkin trying to control the pace. Lima is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pushkin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lima keeps working. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pushkin trying to mount his opponent but Lima defends it. Pushkin is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lima is trying to maintain the position but Pushkin is very close to passing his half guard. Pushkin tries to pass to full mount but Lima defends it. Pushkin is looking for a kimura but Lima is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pushkin to get the leverage. Lima trying to hold on to Pushkin's head to control him but Pushkin postures up.
Pushkin is figuring out what he wants to do next. Pushkin seems to be working for a kimura but Lima defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pushkin is looking to pass Lima's guard but actually Lima recovers to full guard. Lima has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Pushkin should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Lima has tightened it up now! Pushkin should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
