Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Charlie Kenton!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Ian Loll and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kenton throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Grant tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kenton is in Grant's guard.
Kenton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Grant working for a triangle but Kenton defends it easily.
Kenton advances to half guard.
Grant is trying is best to control the position here.
Kenton tries to stand and escape but Grant is controlling the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grant is pressing down on Kenton's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Grant keeping moving, preventing Kenton from controlling successfully.
Kenton passes Grant's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Grant scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kenton manages to mount him!
Grant is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grant tries to hold on but Kenton pushes him away.
Grant is wriggling around trying to escape.
Grant sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Kenton is stalling here. Grant is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Kenton seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Grant has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Kenton has eaten all the pies!
Grant trying to control the action but Kenton is working from the bottom.

Kenton tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Grant presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Kenton tries to lock up and control but Grant gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kenton tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Kenton bucks up and throws Grant to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Grant shoots in for a double leg but Kenton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Horrible takedown attempt by Grant or perhaps it was just good defense by Kenton, which made it look bad.
Kenton tries to counter by closing the distance.

Kenton clinches.
Grant jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kenton walks away with a smile on his face. Grant gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Grant throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kenton's waist but Kenton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Grant off to one side.
Grant shoots in for a takedown but Kenton shows good takedown defense.
Grant is breathing heavily.
Grant has a takedown stuffed.
Kenton throws a sloppy head kick and Grant moves out of range easily.

Kenton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Grant is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Grant keeps control of Kenton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Grant changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kenton fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kenton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kenton wants it to stay on the feet.
Kenton moves in looking to clinch but Grant pushes him off.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kenton is defended easily by Grant.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kenton tries to clinch up but Grant circles away and keeps his distance.
Grant tries to counter by clinching up but Kenton breaks away and moves out of range.
Kenton gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Grant counters with a left and a right that stings Kenton.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Grant scores with a nice head shot.
Grant throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Grant shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kenton as he jumps to the side.
Kenton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Kenton shoots in and gets a takedown into Grant's guard.
Grant is wriggling around but Kenton manages to pass to half guard.

Kenton seems to be looking for submissions.
Grant has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kenton is working away from the top position though.

Grant lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Kenton is working an open guard so Grant takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Kenton tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Grant counters with a nice body kick.

Grant closes the distance and clinches up with Kenton, looking for a takedown. Grant pushes Kenton against the cage but Kenton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kenton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kenton lands in his opponent's guard.

Grant uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Jackson Grant is winning the standup battle so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Grant goes for a double leg but Kenton avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kenton continues to drive forward.

Kenton is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Grant is defending well.
Grant jumps guard but Kenton stands there with Grant around his waist. Grant gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Grant dodges an elbow strike from Kenton.
Grant content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Grant has Kenton pressed against the cage.
Grant seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Kenton is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Kenton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Grant works his way to full guard. Good work.
Grant utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kenton controls from within his opponent's guard.

Kenton dives in for a single leg takedown but Grant sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kenton throws the kick towards the body but Grant avoids it.
Grant throws a head kick that half lands.

and Kenton counters with a head kick. That will keep Grant thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Grant isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kenton stacks Grant on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kenton!

Grant is trying to work for a sweep but Kenton has mounted him!
Grant is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Kenton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grant is looking to escape.
Grant manages to regain half guard. Good work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kenton in particular looking to stall.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kenton lands a nice short elbow.
Grant is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Charlie Kenton has got the better of the ground game so far.

Kenton stands up out of the half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kenton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grant is fending him off so far but Kenton persists. Nope, Grant circles away and we're back to standing.

Kenton tries to keep at a distance but Grant has taken the fight into the clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!

I think Kenton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
