Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kenji Takahashi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shang Chi! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chi darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Takahashi walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Chi tries to clinch up but Takahashi circles away and keeps his distance. No joy there for Chi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Chi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Takahashi circles away from the clinch attempt.
Chi misses with a jab, cross combination.
Chi wants to clinch. Takahashi forces Chi back against the cage and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chi tries to circle away but Takahashi has him pinned against the cage. Chi is trying to break the clinch but Takahashi is controlling him. Chi is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Takahashi pulls guard. Chi is posturing up here but Takahashi has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Chi tries to roll out but it's too tight and Chi has to tap! Slick submission there by Takahashi!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kenji Takahashi! After winning the bout, Kenji Takahashi thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
