Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Justin Merchant (ranked 5309 p4p, 4046 weight class) and Island Chief (ranked 610 p4p, 542 weight class). Island Chief struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Justin Merchant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Island Chief! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, David Hoff and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merchant connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Island Chief has been cut. Chief has his takedown stuffed and Merchant counters with a nice uppercut. Merchant throws a shot to the body.
Merchant slaps away a takedown attempt from Chief, before circling back to the center of the mat. Merchant lands with a good body shot. Chief looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Merchant keeping control of the position. Merchant is trying to control but can't.
Chief is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Merchant has managed to free his arm - good work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chief thows a huge punch but Merchant dodges it nicely.
Chief prevents Merchant from improving his position. Chief has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chief looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Merchant with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Merchant blocking the ground and pound attempt from Chief. Chief lands strikes from half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Chief lands a nice short elbow. Chief is thwarting Merchant's attempts to control the position. Chief scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Merchant is rocked! Chief is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Merchant is hurt! He's hurt bad - Chief fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Merchant from any more punishment! Congratulations to Chief! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Island Chief! Island Chief was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
