Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mike Woods (ranked 3077 p4p, 4508 weight class) and Tim Johns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tim Johns!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johns feints a jab promting Woods to slip. Johns then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Woods slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Woods tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johns defends well and Woods ends up having to push Johns into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Johns gets control of Woods's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johns will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Johns wriggles free and stands up.
Woods walks into a left hand.
Johns misses the shot to the body.
Johns lands a slapping body shot.

Johns has Woods up against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johns has Woods pushed against the cage.
Woods jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johns walks away with a smile on his face. Woods gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Johns clinches up against the cage.
Woods tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Woods. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Woods is looking to break free of the clinch but Johns has double underhooks.
Johns tries to land a knee to the head but Woods blocks with his arms.

Johns manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Johns lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.


Woods escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Johns gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Johns drops back looking for a leg! Woods is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Woods manages to kick Johns off! Johns jumps back into Woods's guard.
Woods throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Johns is looking to work some ground and pound but Woods has wrist control.
Johns is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Johns gets to his feet. Woods looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Woods is looking to clinch.
Johns wants to counter with a clinch but Woods pushes him away.
Woods feints and then cracks Johns's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Johns down.
Woods tries to clinch but Johns is having none of it.

Johns throws a series of punches but Woods moves out of range.
Johns misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Woods is looking to clinch but Johns is avoiding it.
Johns shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Woods but Woods pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Woods seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Woods wants to clinch up but Johns keeps it at a distance.

Johns drives through and clinches with Woods against the cage.
Johns is working for takedown but Woods is calmly controlling the position for now.
Woods tries for a takedown but Johns manages to get underhooks.
Woods is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Johns to keep the fight standing.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Woods working hard to break the clinch.
Johns lands a shot to the body.
Woods tries to pull guard but Johns holds him up against the cage and eventually Woods drops back down to his feet.

Woods tries to break free but Johns pushes him back against the cage.
Johns lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Johns pulls guard successfully.
Woods has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Woods throws a big elbow that misses.

Johns has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Woods off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Woods shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woods will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Woods is breathing heavily.
Johns shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Woods sprawls well. Woods wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johns gets slowly back to his feet.
Woods takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Johns dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Johns pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Woods back to the cage. Johns follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Woods lands a nice looking body kick.
Johns throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Woods throws a right hand that Johns ducks under and follows up with a left that Johns also avoids with ease.
Johns scores with a punch to the head.
The fighters circle momentarily. Johns darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Johns tries to score a power double leg takedown but Woods sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johns somewhat.
Tim Johns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Johns takes the fight into the clinch.
Woods tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Johns smiles and moves away.
Woods takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Johns tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Woods tries to close the distance and clinch but Johns swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Woods shoots in looking for a takedown but Johns manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woods's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Woods throws a leg kick which misses Johns's front leg but catches the back leg as Johns tries to avoid it.

Johns rushes Woods and presses him up against the cage.
Woods takes a shot to the head.
Johns is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Woods jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Johns walks away with a smile on his face. Woods gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Woods keeps control of Johns as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Johns drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Woods gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Woods is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Johns has hold of one of Woods's legs. Woods is fighting the takedown attempt but Johns gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Johns is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Woods utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Johns is stalling in the full guard.
Johns passes into half guard.

Johns passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Woods!
Johns controlling the pace for now.
Let's hope that Johns has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Woods tries to hold on but Johns postures up.
Johns thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Johns controlling from the full mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Woods really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Johns content just to control the position here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Johns showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Johns lands a jab-cross combination.
Johns misses with the combination.

Johns instigates a clinch.

Woods pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johns is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Johns looks to land a combination. Woods sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Johns lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Johns closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Johns is pressed up against the cage. Woods has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Johns down to the mat. Johns avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mike Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Johns moves into range and clinches up with Woods.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Johns is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Woods taking a breather.
Woods jumps guard but Johns stands there with Woods around his waist. Woods gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Johns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Woods is trying to drag Johns to the mat but Johns just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Johns's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Woods fails with an attempt to clinch.
Woods is looking to clinch.
Johns feints the counter takedown.
Johns throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Johns swinging wildly here.
Johns is trying hard to land a takedown here. Woods sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Johns takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Woods wants to clinch.
Woods fails with a takedown attempt.

Woods is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mike Woods has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tim Johns is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Johns on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Tim Johns comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Johns has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
