Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russel Wilson (ranked 4066 p4p, 22675 weight class) and Mike Carpenter (ranked 192 p4p, 236 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russel Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 28 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Carpenter! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson has taken the fight to the clinch.
Wilson tries a body shot but Carpenter blocks it.
Wilson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Carpenter has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Wilson is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. A body shot lands from Wilson.

Wilson lands an uppercut. Carpenter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wilson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Carpenter drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Wilson presses Carpenter against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Wilson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Carpenter's elbow. Wilson can't find room to land a body shot as Carpenter controls the action.

Wilson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Carpenter up against the cage. Wilson works on Carpenter's body with a couple of short punches. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Carpenter. Carpenter is trying to break free. Carpenter working aggressively here.
Wilson is leaning against Carpenter and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Carpenter is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wilson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Carpenter keeping moving, preventing Wilson from controlling successfully. We've been hearing good reports from Wilson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Wilson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wilson tries to free his leg and advance position but Carpenter is retaining full guard. Wilson is working hard here to advance position. Wilson throwing strikes but missing. Wilson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson advances position into side control! Wilson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Carpenter's legs. Wilson wants to control but Carpenter is keeping him busy. Carpenter wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Wilson controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wilson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Carpenter is not content to let Wilson control the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Wilson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Carpenter counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Carpenter. Carpenter wants to pass the guard but Wilson is keeping the position. Wilson is trying to control the position but Carpenter postures up. Carpenter sitting in guard here, content to control. Wilson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carpenter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilson swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Carpenter is refusing to be controlled, as Wilson sits in half guard. Wilson is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Carpenter has managed to free his arm - good work. Carpenter tries to kick Wilson off but Wilson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Wilson controlling the pace.

Russel Wilson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carpenter is trying to stand.
Carpenter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wilson digs a right hand into Carpenter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Carpenter's gas tank. Carpenter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
