PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Forde (ranked 4251 p4p, 4270 weight class) and Hung Wei Lo (ranked 234 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joshua Forde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hung Wei Lo!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Sergei Dronov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lo is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Lo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Forde displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Forde lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Forde.
Forde fails with an attempt to clinch.
Some wild striking there from Forde.
Forde lands a two punch combo.
Lo closes the distance and clinches up with Forde, looking for a takedown. Lo pushes Forde against the cage but Forde circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters circling - Lo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Forde tries to clinch

and Lo counters with a single leg into guard. Forde didn't expect that.

Forde has his feet on Lo's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Forde throws a head kick that misses.
Lo with the counter takedown but Forde avoids it easily.
Forde fails to land with a series of punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Lo! But no joy.
Lo shoots in looking for a takedown. Forde tries to sprawl out of it but Lo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Forde manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Forde slips under a jab.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Forde!
Forde ducks under a wild hook from Lo.
Forde scores with a one two! Lo had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Joshua Forde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Forde.
Forde rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And Lo tries to counter it with a takedown but Forde pushes his down on his head and steps out.
A punch combination from Forde misses.
Forde moves away from the strike by Lo.
Forde seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
A combination from Forde does no damage.
Lo avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Forde looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Forde looks to land a combination but Lo avoids it well.
And Lo tries to counter it with a takedown but Forde pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Forde wants to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lo throws a hook to the side of Forde's head but Forde sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Forde!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lo throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Lo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Forde knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lo is looking to take a break and control but Forde is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Forde is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lo is controlling him well.
Lo trying to control the action but Forde is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lo wants to control for a moment but Forde uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Forde keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Forde wants to stand back up but Lo manages to pass into side control.
Lo trying to control the action but Forde is working from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Forde dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Forde throws a right and a left that Lo avoids nicely.
Forde works over Lo's head and body with a nice combination.
Forde misses with a few strikes there.
Forde lands with a nice combination. Lo backs away looking to recover.
Forde throws a head kick that misses.
Lo throws a body shot but no joy.
Forde throws a right hand that Lo ducks under and follows up with a left that Lo also avoids with ease.
Forde is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lo can do to turn this around?
Forde throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Forde throws a leg kick

and Lo counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Forde!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Forde some visible discomfort.

Lo is trying to get an arm triangle but Forde is defending well.
Lo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forde keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An elbow from Lo crashes against the mat.

Lo has hold of Forde's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Forde seems comfortable defending it but Lo has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Forde is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Forde is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Lo couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Hung Wei Lo!
A very excited looking Hung Wei Lo made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
