Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Guilherme Paulista!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown. Paulista tries to sprawl out of it but Silva keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Paulista manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Paulista misses with a takedown attempt

and Silva decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paulista's guard.
Silva seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silva wants to control from the top but Paulista keeps moving.
Silva working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva won't allow Paulista to get back to his feet.
Silva is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Paulista wants to stand but Silva is controlling the position.
Silva is looking to stand up but Paulista won't let him.
Silva has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Silva stops Paulista from standing up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Silva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Paulista wants to stand but Silva is controlling the position.

Silva is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Paulista is controlling him.

Paulista decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!

Paulista shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Paulista was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Paulista stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

and Paulista counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Silva's guard now.

Silva is working an open guard so Paulista takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

and Paulista decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Silva looking to hit a scissor sweep but Paulista is one step ahead there.

Silva rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Paulista moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Paulista shoots in and bounces Silva off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Paulista looks for a takedown but Silva sprawls well.

and Paulista counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Silva tries to kick Paulista off in order to stand up. Paulista Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

I really don't envy Silva right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Paulista is riding his opponent, not letting Silva buck him off.

Guilherme Paulista showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Silva tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Silva is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Silva trying to control the action but Paulista just sinks the hooks in.

Paulista really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Silva.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Silva wants to control his opponent's hands but Paulista gets his hands free.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Silva is trying to get back to his feet but Paulista has full control of the position and if anything, Silva has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Guilherme Paulista comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Paulista has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
