Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michiel Kortenhorst (ranked 1342 p4p, 1360 weight class) and David Goldberg (ranked 193 p4p, 197 weight class). Michiel Kortenhorst is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Michiel Kortenhorst! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Goldberg! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goldberg tries to land a front kick but Kortenhorst steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Goldberg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Goldberg waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kortenhorst. Kortenhorst tries to clinch but Goldberg is having none of it. Kortenhorst looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Goldberg is fending him off so far but Kortenhorst persists. Nope, Goldberg circles away and we're back to standing. Goldberg looks to score with a jab to the body but Kortenhorst is just out of range. Goldberg bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Goldberg is looking to take a break and control but Kortenhorst is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kortenhorst takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Goldberg in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kortenhorst definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kortenhorst tries to improve position but can't. Goldberg working away. Kortenhorst is looking for a sweep. Kortenhorst is not content to let Goldberg control the position. Goldberg is working Kortenhorst over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kortenhorst tries to bench press Goldberg off him but Goldberg keeps the position. Goldberg landing strikes. Kortenhorst tries to buck Goldberg off but Goldberg is having none of it. Goldberg controls the position from side control. Goldberg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kortenhorst keeps working. Kortenhorst prevents Goldberg from moving into mount. Kortenhorst is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goldberg working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Kortenhorst is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Goldberg's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kortenhorst has hold of Goldberg's hands but Goldberg slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Goldberg looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Kortenhorst tries to roll over but Goldberg keeps him under control. Goldberg wants to pass the guard but Kortenhorst is defending well. Goldberg looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Kortenhorst tries to roll over but Goldberg keeps him under control. Kortenhorst trying to control but Goldberg postures up.
Kortenhorst is looking for a sweep. Goldberg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Kortenhorst trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Goldberg is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Kortenhorst can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goldberg prevents Kortenhorst from getting the reversal. Kortenhorst sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Goldberg wants to take a breather but Kortenhorst is having none of it. Goldberg working the head and body with strikes. Kortenhorst is pressing down on Goldberg's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Goldberg is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Kortenhorst keeping moving, preventing Goldberg from controlling successfully. Goldberg looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Kortenhorst is trying to control the position but Goldberg postures up. Kortenhorst looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goldberg distracts Kortenhorst with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kortenhorst looking to control.
Kortenhorst pulls Goldberg in close to his closed guard and prevents Goldberg from doing any damage or advancing position. Goldberg is pushing down on Kortenhorst's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kortenhorst is fighting to maintain full guard but Goldberg has managed to sneak the leg through. Goldberg is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Kortenhorst on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Goldberg working the head and body with strikes. Goldberg is thwarting Kortenhorst's attempts to control the position. Goldberg seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kortenhorst is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kortenhorst looking for submissions off his back. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
David Goldberg dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Goldberg swings for the body but Kortenhorst moves out of range.
Kortenhorst has taken the fight to the clinch.
Goldberg has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Goldberg breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kortenhorst moves into the clinch. Goldberg's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Goldberg misses with a straight right. Goldberg uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kortenhorst has time to react. Kortenhorst closes the distance and pushes Goldberg back into the cage. Goldberg swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Goldberg gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Goldberg is nestled in close to Kortenhorst, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kortenhorst moves into full guard.
Goldberg makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kortenhorst is looking to sweep but instead, Goldberg has passed into half guard.
Kortenhorst gets full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kortenhorst is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Goldberg frees his head nicely. Oh but Kortenhorst has switched to an armbar! Goldberg is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
