Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Guust Altenaar (ranked 4389 p4p, 4413 weight class) and Kurvon Battle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Guust Altenaar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kurvon Battle! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Altenaar shoots and misses letting Battle counter with a right hand.
It looks like Guust Altenaar has been cut. Battle tries to score a power double leg takedown but Altenaar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Battle somewhat. Altenaar with a poor takedown letting Battle counter with a right hand. Altenaar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Battle circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Guust Altenaar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Altenaar misses with a takedown attempt and Battle counters with a nice body shot. Altenaar closes the distance and clinches up with Battle, looking for a takedown. Altenaar pushes Battle against the cage but Battle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Altenaar shoots in and drives through. Battle sprawls well. Altenaar is breathing heavily. Altenaar doesn't succeed with the takedown and Battle counters into the clinch. Nicely done. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Battle slows down the pace here.

Battle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Battle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Altenaar avoids it really well and circles away. Battle shoots in for a double leg but Altenaar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Battle fails with a takedown attempt. Nice body kick from Battle. Altenaar takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Battle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Battle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Altenaar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Battle tries to avoid it but Altenaar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Battle to the ground. Battle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Battle looks for a takedown but Altenaar sprawls well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice leg kick from Battle, right into the meat of the thigh.
Battle defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Altenaar. No luck with that takedown attempt from Altenaar. Battle shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Battle leaves Altenaar with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Altenaar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Altenaar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. This has been an exciting period of action! Altenaar changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Battle tries to avoid it but Altenaar manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Battle to the ground. Battle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Altenaar shoots and misses and Altenaar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Battle throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Battle moves into the clinch. Altenaar has Battle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Battle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Altenaar is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Battle is defending well. Battle scores with a knee to the head.
Altenaar has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Battle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Battle is defending well against a takedown attempt. Battle jumps guard and drags Altenaar to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Altenaar trying to control the position from guard on top but Battle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Altenaar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Battle is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Battle looking for a sweep. Not yet Battle, not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Altenaar wants to control from the top but Battle keeps moving. Altenaar tries to free his leg and advance position but Battle is retaining full guard. Battle wants to sweep here but Altenaar controlling him for the moment. Altenaar looking to sit in guard and control but Battle gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Altenaar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Altenaar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Battle has his hands clasped together but Altenaar extends and breaks Battle's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Altenaar.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Guust Altenaar! Our winner, Guust Altenaar, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
