PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Peterson (ranked 23022 p4p, 5437 weight class) and Ron Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Berzerk by Eminem. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 33 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin moves out of range as Peterson throws a body kick.
Peterson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Austin back to the cage. Peterson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Peterson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Peterson thuds a left hand into Austin's body.

Austin chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Peterson can pounce on him.
Austin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Peterson pinned against the cage. Peterson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

No joy there for Peterson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Peterson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Austin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Austin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Peterson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Peterson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Peterson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Peterson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Austin avoids it really well and circles away.
Despite the aggression on Austin's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Austin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We've been hearing that Peterson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Austin throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Austin off to one side.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Austin closes the distance and clinches up with Peterson, looking for a takedown. Austin pushes Peterson against the cage but Peterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Peterson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Austin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Peterson to the mat! Peterson manages to get full guard.

Peterson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
