PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Doug Anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Butcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Tim Butcher looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tim Butcher!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Butcher walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Butcher should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Butcher looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Butcher keeps the fight on the outside.
A right-left combo lands from Anderson.


It looks like Tim Butcher has been cut.

Anderson has managed to clinch.

Anderson pulls guard successfully.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Anderson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Butcher is controlling him.

Anderson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Anderson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Butcher breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Butcher shoots in looking for a takedown. Anderson tries to sprawl out of it but Butcher keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Anderson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Anderson closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Butcher is trying to control the action in half guard but Anderson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Anderson is trying is best to control the position here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Butcher is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Anderson still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Anderson has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Anderson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Anderson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

so Butcher counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Butcher throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Anderson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Anderson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Butcher postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Anderson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Butcher's guard.
Butcher has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Anderson has passed into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Butcher wants to control but Anderson postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson throws a head kick that misses

and Butcher counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Anderson!

Tim Butcher has got the better of the ground game so far.
Butcher misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Anderson is working to get back to half guard.
Butcher can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Anderson is looking to escape.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Anderson tries to lock up and control but Butcher gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Anderson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Butcher swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Anderson is now in Butcher's guard. A big mistake from Butcher there, giving up the dominant position!

Butcher is working an open guard so Anderson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Anderson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Butcher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Anderson misses with a double jab

and Butcher counters with a nice double leg into side control. Anderson won't be happy with that.

Tim Butcher comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Butcher has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
