Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Adams! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Reed! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Adams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Reed gets a takedown into half guard. Reed seems to be working for a kimura but Adams defends the submission attempt. Reed is looking to take a break and control but Adams is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Adams is defending against the submission attempts here by Reed.
Adams tries to kick Reed off but Reed keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Reed is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Adams is just riding it out for now. Reed eventually gives up the hold. Reed drops an elbow to the side of Adams's head. Reed is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Reed looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Adams has one foot on Reed's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Reed takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Adams misses with a takedown attempt and Reed counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Adams! Adams knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reed on the ground. Adams is working to get back to half guard.
Reed thowing shots but they're missing. Reed controlling the pace for now. Reed is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Adams is surviving well by controlling Reed's body position as best he can. Reed looking for a guillotine from mount but Adams is having none of it. Adams is looking to improve his position but Reed isn't that keen on the idea.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reed working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Adams turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Reed off and cradles Adams's limp body as Reed celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Dean Reed!
