Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Choo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bu Laia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laia has chosen ""E Ala E" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole as his entrance music. Daniel Choo could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Bu Laia's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daniel Choo! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bu Laia! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laia has Choo up against the cage in a clinch.
Choo wants to break free but Laia has control.
Laia lands with a light punch inside. Choo is working for takedown but Laia is calmly controlling the position for now. Choo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Laia tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Come on Laia - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Choo tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Choo. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Laia taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Laia lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Choo backwards. Choo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Laia stalling in the clinch but Choo improves position. Laia is pushing Choo up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Choo gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Choo trying to control but Laia is working from the bottom. Choo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Choo being controlled here momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Choo drops back, looking for a kneebar! Laia looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Laia looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Laia! Laia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Choo keeps working. Choo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Choo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Choo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Choo not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Choo trying to control the position from guard on top but Laia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Laia is adopting a defensive guard. Choo trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Choo stays in close to Laia's body and controls the position. Choo wants to control from the top but Laia keeps moving. Choo wants to pass the guard but Laia is keeping the position. Laia wants to sweep here but Choo controlling him for the moment. Choo is fighting to break Laia's control of his arms but Laia is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Choo controlling from the top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bu Laia dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Laia throws a body punch but Choo moves out of range. Choo misses with a low kick. Choo is looking to clinch but Laia is avoiding it.
Laia tries to clinch but Choo is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Choo tries to clinch up but Laia circles away and keeps his distance. Laia throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Choo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Laia is looking to score with low kicks.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Laia misses. Choo swats away the attempt to clinch by Laia. Bu Laia is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Choo circles away from the clinch attempt and Choo counters with a good low kick that Laia was not able to check. Laia checks a low kick from Choo. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Laia lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Choo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Choo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Laia misses with a straight right. Laia tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Choo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Laia looks to clinch and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Choo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Laia's waist but Laia gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Choo off to one side. Choo attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Laia throws a leg kick but Choo checks it. Laia wants to clinch. Laia turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Laia throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laia scores with a jab to the head.
Bu Laia is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Laia clinches but Choo breaks the clinch and Choo counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Laia scores with a jab. Laia fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Laia connects with a looping right hand.
Choo gets the takedown into side control. Laia is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Laia is not content to let Choo control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Choo moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Laia is trying to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Bu Laia will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Choo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Choo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Laia pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Choo tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Laia takes the fight into the clinch. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Laia just misses with a elbow thrown towards Choo's brow. Laia tries to stall but Choo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Choo is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Both guys are working to get underhooks. A looping hook to the body misses from Laia. Choo does a little dance to reset his feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Choo avoids the body shot from Laia.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Choo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Laia is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Choo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Laia's back instead. Choo is trying to stick to Laia's back but Laia is turning into Choo. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Choo's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Laia. Choo has his foot on Laia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Laia works his way back into a safe position though. Choo being controlled here, momentarily. Choo trying to control the position here. Laia is stalling in the full guard.
