Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Josef Gobbels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wes Welker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josef Gobbels! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Welker! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Welker thows a body shot but no joy. Welker is looking to clinch. Welker is looking to clinch but Gobbels is avoiding it.
Welker ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Gobbels keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gobbels pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gobbels throws a looping overhand right but Welker ducks down to avoid it. Welker tries to clinch up but Gobbels circles away and keeps his distance. A chopping leg kick lands by Gobbels. A clash of legs there as Welker blocks the low kick. Welker moves into the clinch. Gobbels gets underhooks to prevent Welker's takedown attempt.
Gobbels misses with a short punch on the inside. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Welker tries to pull guard but Gobbels holds him up against the cage and eventually Welker drops back down to his feet.
Welker has picked Gobbels up - he's going for a ride! Welker dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gobbels wants to get back to his feet. Gobbels makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gobbels. Welker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gobbels is looking to stand up but Welker isn't so interested in that idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Welker throwing strikes but missing. Welker postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Welker looking to pass the guard. Welker is looking to advance position but Gobbels has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Welker is squirming around, avoiding Gobbels's attempts to control the action. Welker is trying to escape the mount.
Gobbels will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Gobbels wants to finish this one by submission but Welker is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gobbels. Gobbels is looking to stand but Gobbels has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Welker regains half guard. Welker manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gobbels loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gobbels is looking to stand up but Welker won't let him. Welker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gobbels can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gobbels slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Welker tries to bench press Gobbels off him but Gobbels keeps the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Welker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Welker misses with an elbow from the bottom. Gobbels stands up. Welker misses with a kick to the body.
Welker shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Gobbels is squirming around, avoiding Welker's attempts to control the action. Gobbels tries to reverse the position but Welker maintains control. Welker fails to take his opponent's back. Welker is in the full mount, landing strikes. Welker lands a heavy elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gobbels working to try and regain half guard.
Welker manages to capitalize on a mistake by Gobbels to take his back! I really don't envy Gobbels right now.
Welker looking for the choke from the back. Welker is looking for the choke from the back position but Gobbels is controlling his hands well. Welker looks gassed! Gobbels trying to get back to his feet but Welker is in full control for now. Gobbels really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gobbels rolls, trying to escape but Welker keeps control of the position.
Welker looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Gobbels is controlling Welker 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Welker dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gobbels tries a head kick but it misses.
Welker uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Gobbels.
A slow jab from Gobbels misses its intended target. Welker tries to close the distance and clinch but Gobbels swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A jab from Gobbels finds it's way through Welker's defenses. Welker looks for a takedown but Gobbels sprawls well. Josef Gobbels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gobbels connects with a nice looking jab.
Welker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gobbels. Gobbels misses with a head kick.
Gobbels looks to throw a body kick and Welker counters with a right hand to the body. Gobbels throws a lazy head kick and Welker counters with a thumping low kick. Welker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Welker is looking to take a break and control but Gobbels is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Welker working the head and body with strikes. Welker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Welker is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Gobbels is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Gobbels tries to control the position but Welker now has his back.
Welker connects with a big shot to the side of Gobbels's head.
Gobbels has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Welker is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Gobbels trying to control but not successfully. Gobbels manages to reverse the position and now he's in Welker's guard. Nice work there by Gobbels.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Welker had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gobbels is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Welker Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gobbels's back instead. Welker is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Gobbels up.
Gobbels is trying to stand back up. Gobbels is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Welker gets his way!
Gobbels is trying to get back to his feet but Welker has full control of the position and if anything, Gobbels has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gobbels rolls, trying to escape but Welker keeps control of the position.
Gobbels turns into Welker and is now in his guard.
Welker has a closed guard, preventing Gobbels from standing up. Welker looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Welker lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Gobbels! Welker working for a guillotine from mount but Gobbels is in no mood to give up. Gobbels tries to lock up and control but Welker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Welker is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Welker!
