And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Myuki Yoshida! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Lauren tries to clinch there but Yoshida circles away.
Lauren feints and as Yoshida raises his hands in defense, Lauren changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Lauren (2) vs (0) Yoshida Lauren wants to control from the top but Yoshida keeps moving. Yoshida can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lauren controls the pace. Lauren has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Yoshida throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lauren trying to control but Yoshida is working from the bottom. Lauren is really struggling to control Yoshida but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Lauren wants to control from the top but Yoshida keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lauren sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Lauren looking to sit in guard and control but Yoshida gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yoshida in particular looking to stall.

Lauren preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Lauren trying to hold on to Yoshida's head to control him but Yoshida postures up.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Yoshida stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lauren swivels though and keeps the full guard. Yoshida has gone for a leg lock! Lauren slips out almost immediately though and dives into Yoshida's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Lauren (4) vs (2) Yoshida Yoshida wants to sweep here but Lauren controlling him for the moment. Lauren tries to free his leg and advance position but Yoshida is retaining full guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Lauren sitting in guard here, content to control. Lauren wants to pass the guard but Yoshida is keeping the position. Yoshida working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lauren doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Yoshida is tightening it up a little... Lauren has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lauren reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lauren taps out! Nice BJJ there by Yoshida!
