Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Greene (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevenson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Machine Head. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stevenson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Greene as he jumps to the side. Greene throws a right hand that Stevenson ducks under and follows up with a left that Stevenson also avoids with ease. Greene lands a jab-cross combination. Greene swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Greene takes a swing at Stevenson's ribcage but misses. Greene thows a left - swing and a miss! Greene misses with a wild body shot. Stevenson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Greene as he avoids it easily. Stevenson ducks under a wild hook from Greene. Greene throws an overhand right that lands on Stevenson's shoulder, as Stevenson tries to avoid the shot. Greene just misses with a punch to the body.
Greene stuffs the takedown attempt from Stevenson. Stevenson gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Stevenson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stevenson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Greene throws out the jab. Stevenson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Greene has his hands on Stevenson's head, controlling the position. Stevenson trying to control the position from guard on top but Greene is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Stevenson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Stevenson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Stevenson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Greene seems keen to control Stevenson's posture. Stevenson trying to control but Greene is working from the bottom. Stevenson throws and elbow that misses. Greene uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Stevenson's guard. Nice move by Greene!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Greene gets to his feet - Stevenson follows without any prompting. Stevenson avoids the body shot from Greene.

Greene clobbers Stevenson with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Stevenson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Greene works over Stevenson's head and body with a nice combination. Greene lands with a nice body punch. A jab from Greene finds it's way through Stevenson's defenses. Greene connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Stevenson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Greene finds it's way round the side to connect with Stevenson's head. This has been an exciting period of action! Stevenson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Greene to score with a decent uppercut. Stevenson shoots in for a takedown but Greene shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Stevenson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Greene thuds his right hand into Stevenson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Adam Greene seems to be getting the better of the standup. Greene cracks Stevenson with an open hand slap. Greene wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Stevenson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Greene slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Greene lands a with a good body shot. Some wild striking there from Greene.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Greene throws a hook but Stevenson avoids it easily. Greene scores with a jab. Stevenson clinches. Greene misses with the head strike.

Stevenson on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Greene lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Stevenson tries to hold on but Greene pushes him away. Greene content just to control the position here. Joe Stevenson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Stevenson is desperately trying to improve his position but Greene has a good base and remains in mount. Greene controlling his opponent.

Greene looks to land a combination but Stevenson avoids it well. Greene displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Stevenson misses with a takedown attempt - Greene sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Greene cracks Stevenson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Joe Stevenson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Greene connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Stevenson's hands. Greene scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Greene connects with a good right hand that stumbles Stevenson. Stevenson circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Greene throws a good cross that connects.
