Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between DJ Spoons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Ickey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ickey closes the distance and clinches.
Ickey wants a takedown.
Ickey jumps into guard, dragging Spoons to the mat.
Ickey wants to sweep but no luck.
Ickey scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Spoons misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Spoons looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Spoons is breathing heavily.
Ickey tries to roll over but Spoons keeps him under control.
Spoons is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ickey defends it well.
Ickey has one foot on Spoons's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ickey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ickey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Spoons is staying active underneath Ickey, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Ickey prevents Spoons from improving his position.
Ickey wants to control but Spoons is keeping him busy.
Ickey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Spoons. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ickey is pressing down on Spoons's thigh, looking to free his foot. Spoons is holding on for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spoons is refusing to be controlled, as Ickey sits in half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Spoons manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ickey manages to get himself to full guard.
Spoons chips away with some ground and pound.

Ickey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Spoons is working away from the top position though.

Ickey is trying to maintain the position but Spoons is very close to passing his half guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ickey darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Ickey wants to stand but Spoons has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ickey is trying to control the action in half guard but Spoons is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Spoons manages to get to full guard.
Spoons had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ickey is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Spoons Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ickey's back instead.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Spoons keeps the fight on the outside.
Ickey tries to clinch there but Spoons circles away.
Ickey has Spoons up against the cage in a clinch.
Ickey has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Spoons avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Ickey can't break the clinch.
Ickey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ickey tries to clinch but Spoons is having none of it.

Ickey postures up in Spoons's guard and throws a big left but Spoons blocks it.
Spoons pulls Ickey in close to prevent any damage.

Ickey trying to stand up but can't free himself from Spoons's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ickey trying to move into half guard but instead Spoons has managed to sweep!

Ickey controls Spoons momentarily but Spoons frees himself.
Ickey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Spoons's guard.
Ickey tries to stand but Spoons is controlling from the bottom.
Spoons looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ickey working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Ickey is posturing up here but Spoons has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ickey tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ickey has to tap! Slick submission there by Spoons!
