Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lou Valentine (ranked 1712 p4p, 1743 weight class) and Dag Schotel (ranked 227 p4p, 230 weight class). Dag Schotel is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lou Valentine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dag Schotel! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Hemmingworth and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schotel thuds a left hand into Valentine's body. Schotel throws out a loose jab but Valentine uses good head movement to avoid it. Schotel connects with the punch. Valentine looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Valentine does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Schotel missing with a left hand there. Valentine was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Schotel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schotel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Schotel. Valentine does a little dance to reset his feet. A counter left hand to the body from Valentine misses its target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Schotel swings widly with a right hand
and Valentine counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Valentine doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Schotel defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Valentine. Valentine with the inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valentine throws a head kick but Schotel moves out of range.
Schotel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Valentine moves forwards but Schotel connects with a nice, crisp jab. Schotel misses with a hook
and Valentine counters with a nice low kick that buckles Schotel's knee momentarily. We've been hearing reports that Valentine has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Valentine throws a lazy right hand but Schotel sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A jab from Schotel misses. Schotel connects with a body shot that sends Valentine's belly button to the back. Valentine misses with a wild combination.
Schotel looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Schotel misses with a shot to the body and Valentine counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Valentine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Valentine tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Valentine has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Valentine is trying to get an arm triangle but Schotel is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schotel manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Valentine is trying to maintain the position but Schotel is very close to passing his half guard. Valentine looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Schotel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Schotel winds up and cracks Valentine with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schotel lands strikes from half guard. Valentine wants to get back to full guard. Valentine trying to control but Schotel postures up.
Valentine tries to get to full guard but Schotel has control of the leg. Valentine slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Schotel works over Valentine with some ground and pound from guard. Valentine controls Schotel momentarily but Schotel frees himself. Valentine bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schotel's guard. Valentine scoring with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Schotel is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Valentine throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Valentine postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Schotel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Schotel keeping moving, preventing Valentine from controlling successfully. Valentine advances position into side control! Valentine is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schotel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schotel is trying to improve his position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Lou Valentine will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Schotel throws a jab but it's blocked by Valentine. It looked like Valentine was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Schotel. Schotel misses with a hook
and Valentine counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Schotel loads up on a big right hand but Valentine slips the punch. Schotel scores with a hook. Valentine misses with a wild body shot. Valentine defending well as Schotel loads up on a big left hand. Valentine was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Schotel throws a hook but Valentine avoids it easily. Schotel misses with a straight left. Valentine swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That kick from Valentine tenderised Schotel's leg. Schotel is trying to keep his angry face on. Schotel takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Valentine misses with an uppercut. Schotel let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Schotel tests Valentine's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schotel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Valentine on the side of the head. Schotel scores with a jab to the body. Valentine is looking to wear down Schotel with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Valentine lands a high kick!
Schotel cracks a nice hook into Valentine's ribs. Valentine walks into a jab. Schotel misses with a lunging right hand
and Valentine counters with a nice leg kick. Nice jab there from Valentine. Schotel lands a really nice looking cross but Valentine seems unphased.
Schotel misses with an uppercut. Valentine saw that one coming. Valentine scores with a nice right hand.
Schotel is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Valentine blocks a jab. Schotel is still on wobbly legs! Can Valentine finish him? Nice shot lands for Schotel. Valentine shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Schotel is trying to defend but Valentine finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Schotel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lou Valentine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Valentine uses his free foot to push down on Schotel's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Schotel. Valentine lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Valentine moves to the back. Schotel breaks Valentine's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Valentine looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Schotel seems to have recovered his senses. Schotel wants to control from the top but Valentine keeps moving. Schotel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valentine swivels though and keeps the full guard. Schotel connects with a couple of short punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schotel trying to control the position from guard on top but Valentine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Valentine is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Valentine is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Schotel has his hands clasped together but Valentine extends and breaks Schotel's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Valentine.
