This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 11 losses; Elazar Shalit! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 25 losses; Joe Tidd! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Shalit fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Shalit has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Tidd tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Shalit swivels and escapes. Tidd shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Shalit (0) vs (2) Tidd Shalit is looking to control Tidd's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Shalit avoid being mounted? Tidd is taking a breather. Shalit says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Shalit wants to control but Tidd is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tidd perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tidd wants to take a breather but Shalit is having none of it. Tidd might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Shalit haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Tidd trying to control from half guard but Shalit is working away. Shalit wants to improve his position but Tidd is controlling well.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Tidd is looking to improve his position but Shalit isn't that keen on the idea. Tidd keeps trying to improve his position. Shalit will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Tidd wants to hold on but Shalit pushes him away. Shalit content just to control the position here. Tidd wants to control but Shalit is having none of it. Shalit looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Tidd has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Tidd sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shalit's guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Tidd has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Score +3 for passing guard: Shalit (16) vs (15) Tidd Shalit is squirming around, avoiding Tidd's attempts to control the action.
And that's the end of the fight! Shalit takes the fight on points by 16 to 15. After winning the bout, Elazar Shalit thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
