Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rio Gracie (ranked 1935 p4p, 24906 weight class) and Noomnoi Sitsongrit (ranked 253 p4p, 619 weight class). Noomnoi Sitsongrit is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Rio Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Noomnoi Sitsongrit! The judges for this bout are Ben Hemmingworth, Ben Watson and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie shoots in and drives through. Sitsongrit sprawls well. We've been hearing reports that Gracie has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Sitsongrit pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gracie with a poor takedown and Sitsongrit cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Gracie tries to keep at a distance but Sitsongrit has taken the fight into the clinch. Gracie manages to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gracie is pulling down on Sitsongrit's head to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie is working hard here to advance position. Gracie seems keen to control Sitsongrit's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sitsongrit would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Gracie seems keen to control Sitsongrit's posture.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gracie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sitsongrit tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gracie is in Sitsongrit's guard. Gracie stays in close to Sitsongrit's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie advances position into side control! Gracie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Sitsongrit will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Sitsongrit prevents Gracie from improving position. Sitsongrit is trying to improve his position. Sitsongrit is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Gracie asserts his dominance and retains side control. Sitsongrit is looking to regain half guard here but Gracie keeps moving and retains side control. A lull in the action here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie tries to move to mount but Sitsongrit blocks the move with his legs. Gracie content to control the pace. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gracie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Rio Gracie dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. A decent looking cross lands there for Sitsongrit. Sitsongrit lands with a nice body punch. Sitsongrit gets a clinch. Gracie tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sitsongrit just stands there and leans against the cage. Gracie pulls guard. Gracie lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Gracie stays in close to Sitsongrit's body and controls the position. Rio Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gracie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sitsongrit can do anything to dispel that myth. Sitsongrit trying to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Noomnoi Sitsongrit is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sitsongrit stuffs the takedown. A nice side step and Sitsongrit releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Rio Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie darts in looking for a takedown but Sitsongrit gets double underhooks and turns Gracie into the cage. We've been informed that Sitsongrit has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rio Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gracie is trying to pull guard but Sitsongrit turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Gracie keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sitsongrit's efforts to push away. Sitsongrit tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Gracie just stands there and leans against the cage. Sitsongrit taking a breather. Gracie jumps guard but Sitsongrit stands there with Gracie around his waist. Gracie gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sitsongrit escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gracie fails with the takedown and Sitsongrit counters with a lovely shot to the body. Sitsongrit leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Sitsongrit defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Sitsongrit shows good takedown defense. Sitsongrit moves into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Gracie jumps guard but Sitsongrit turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Sitsongrit working hard to break the clinch. Sitsongrit is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Gracie is defending well for now. Gracie pulls guard successfully.
Gracie seems keen to control Sitsongrit's posture. Sitsongrit sitting in guard, not really doing much. Gracie pulls Sitsongrit in to control the position. Sitsongrit must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Gracie passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie moves to the back position. Gracie controls the action. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Rio Gracie will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round! Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sitsongrit as he jumps to the side. Gracie with a poor takedown letting Sitsongrit counter with a right hand. Gracie tries for a takedown but Sitsongrit circles away easily and Sitsongrit counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rio Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sitsongrit lands with a good body shot. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt and Sitsongrit counters with a head kick. That will keep Gracie thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Gracie fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sitsongrit to the ground. Gracie is now in Sitsongrit's guard. Gracie content to stall in guard here. Sitsongrit wants to get back to his feet but Gracie is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Gracie seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sitsongrit is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Gracie slips nicely into half guard. Gracie trying to control the pace. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Sitsongrit is defending well. Still in half guard, Gracie seems content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gracie prevents Sitsongrit from improving his position. Gracie is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Gracie has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Sitsongrit tries to reverse the position but Gracie maintains control. Gracie controlling from the full mount. Gracie moves to back control. Gracie is riding his opponent, not letting Sitsongrit buck him off. Gracie seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sitsongrit for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Gracie is stinking the place up with his stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sitsongrit is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gracie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sitsongrit trying to control but not successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Rio Gracie showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
