Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, The pit! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, brick wall! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! wall bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. wall wants to stand but pit has his arm trapped. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. pit tries to buck wall off but wall is having none of it. pit struggling a bit here. pit is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. wall tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. pit is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. wall working away.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. pit misses with a takedown so wall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. wall would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. wall looks gassed! wall decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. wall misses with a takedown and pit counters with a slapping leg kick. pit forces wall back against the ropes and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. wall pulls pit into guard.
pit passes wall's right leg, so he's now in half guard. pit working over wall with some ground and pound. wall looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. wall on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! pit moves into full mount! wall won't be happy about that! pit putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! pit controlling from the full mount. pit with the ground and pound from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. pit lands a nice shot to the head. BOOM! pit connects with a massive shot to the dome!
pit lands a big shot there that rocks wall but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
wall really wants to buck pit off and get back to his feet. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. pit controlling from the full mount. wall is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
wall is squirming around, avoiding pit's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. wall trying desperately to get to his feet.
pit trying to control but wall is having none of it. pit controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but brick wall will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
A solid body kick from pit. wall drives through with a takedown into guard. wall preventing the sweep. pit is trying to control the position but wall postures up. wall wants to stand but pit is controlling his posture from full guard. pit is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. wall is refusing to be controlled, as pit sits in half guard. pit stops wall from getting back to his feet.
pit with the ground and pound but wall uses the opportunity to regain guard. pit stops wall from standing up. pit wants to control from the top but wall keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. wall tries for a takedown but pit circles away easily and pit counters with a takedown into side control. pit stands up. pit clinches with his opponent.
wall tries to pull guard but pit won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. wall manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. pit gets to his feet - wall follows without any prompting. wall shoots and misses and pit counters with a nice double leg into side control. wall won't be happy with that. The pit has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of brick wall. pit trying to control the action but wall is working from the bottom. wall defending against the ground and pound. wall is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, pit asserts his dominance and retains side control. pit will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. pit in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. pit trying to control the action but wall is working from the bottom. pit is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down wall's shoulder. That is not cool. pit working the strikes but wall uses the opportunity to regain half guard. wall wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. pit with a poor takedown and wall counters with a shoot takedown. pit fights it but they end up in guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. pit is trying to keep wall in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
The pit dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
pit misses with a takedown and wall decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in pit's guard. wall wants to stand but pit is controlling his posture from full guard. pit working a defensive guard here.
wall wants to get up but he can't break pit's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. pit is controlling wall's posture. Both fighters are breathing heavily. wall wanted to stand there but pit had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. pit trying to keep a closed guard but wall is proving a slippery customer.
wall trying to stand up but can't free himself from pit's guard. wall is fighting to break pit's control of his arms but pit is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. wall darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. wall tries to stand but his hand is stuck under pit.
That's two minutes gone in the round. wall prevents pit from improving his position. wall is thwarting pit's attempts to control the position. wall tries to stand but can't do so whilst pit controls his leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. pit kicks wall off and gets back to his feet. wall shoots and misses and pit counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for wall! wall is trying to stand. pit can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as wall is looking to escape. pit with shots to the head and body - wall looks very uncomfortable down there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. wall is trying to get back to his feet but can't. wall is squirming around, avoiding pit's attempts to control the action. pit takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. wall wants to get back to his feet.
pit lands a big elbow. pit trying to control but wall is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to brick wall. I think wall has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
