This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 13 losses; Jacque Joteel! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 24 losses; Long Wang! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wang fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Wang shoots in and bounces Joteel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Joteel (0) vs (2) Wang Joteel is trying to keep Wang in close.
Joteel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Joteel is working hard here to advance position. Wang is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Joteel tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Joteel working a defensive guard here.
Wang thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. My spies in Aimon bodaus ja sparri inform me that Wang has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Wang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wang drops back looking for a leg! Joteel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Joteel manages to kick Wang off! Wang jumps back into Joteel's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joteel looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Joteel has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Joteel is on top in guard.
Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Joteel (2) vs (2) Wang Joteel won't allow Wang to sweep him here. Joteel is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Wang has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Joteel is looking to defend but Wang has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Joteel! Wang pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Joteel taps out and this one is all over!
