And in the blue corner, fighting out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 34 wins and 32 losses; Darragh Fiachna! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Hitoshi shoots in and gets a takedown into Fiachna's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Hitoshi (2) vs (0) Fiachna Hitoshi tries to free his leg and advance position but Fiachna is retaining full guard. Fiachna is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Fiachna looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hitoshi is one step ahead there. Fiachna is trying to control the position but Hitoshi postures up. Hitoshi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hitoshi passes Fiachna's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Hitoshi wants to work for an arm triangle but Fiachna is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hitoshi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fiachna sees it coming and defends easily. Fiachna is trying to control but can't.
Hitoshi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fiachna is just riding it out for now. Hitoshi eventually gives up the hold.

He hasn't managed just yet though.

He's hooked one of Hitoshi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hitoshi's back! Fiachna tries to keep control of the position but Hitoshi is staying busy. Hitoshi is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Fiachna looking to break Hitoshi's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Hitoshi remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Fiachna will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Hitoshi might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Fiachna is hanging on to Hitoshi's back as he tries to escape.

Fiachna is cranking Hitoshi's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Hitoshi! He's tightened the choke and Hitoshi is tapping out!
