This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 23 losses; Long Wang! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 22 losses; Volodymyr Kersikov! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kersikov drives through with a takedown into guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Wang (0) vs (2) Kersikov We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wang looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wang controlling Kersikov's posture. Wang is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kersikov defends well. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kersikov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kersikov trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wang is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wang is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kersikov is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Wang is really struggling to control Kersikov but he's trying to hold on to the position. Wang has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wang isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kersikov stacks Wang on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kersikov! Score +3 for passing guard: Wang (0) vs (5) Kersikov Wang is looking to regain half guard here but Kersikov keeps moving and retains side control. Wang tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Kersikov presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Wang (0) vs (7) Kersikov Kersikov avoids the attempt from Wang to control. Wang tries to reverse the position but Kersikov maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wang is working hard here to advance position. Wang tries to improve his position but Kersikov has taken his back! Kersikov has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Wang tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Kersikov pushes Wang away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
