Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Pulizzi (ranked 1856 p4p, 1798 weight class) and Makon James (ranked 289 p4p, 281 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Pulizzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Makon James!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James slips a straight right by Pulizzi.
Pulizzi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Nice shot by Pulizzi.
James moves out of range as Pulizzi strikes.
James displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pulizzi throws out the jab.
Makon James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pulizzi avoids the body shot from James.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.
James has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pulizzi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
James scores with a shot to the body.
James bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pulizzi's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James lands a jab to Pulizzi's midsection.
James scores with a jab to the body.
James is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Pulizzi rather than just go for the knockout.
James misses with a wild body shot.
Pulizzi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pulizzi throws the left hand but James avoids the punch easily.
James stuns Pulizzi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Pulizzi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
James now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
James misses with a body shot.
Pulizzi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pulizzi manages to avoid it.
James comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
James getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

It looks like Joe Pulizzi has been cut.
James lands with a nice body punch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pulizzi takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pulizzi throws out the jab.
Pulizzi misses with a left hand
and Pulizzi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Pulizzi throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The fighters circle momentarily. Pulizzi darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
James throws a big shot that misses.
Pulizzi looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
James misses with a looping right.
James looks to land a right hand but Pulizzi moved out of range.
James staying out of range there.
Pulizzi sets himself, and James steps forward looking for the clinch! Pulizzi avoids it this time.
James misses with a hook to the body

and Pulizzi counters with a nice right hand that sends James toppling to the canvas! James scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Pulizzi finish him?!

James is rocked!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Pulizzi fakes the body blow, causing James to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! James goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!
