Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Felix Pappalardi (ranked 241 p4p, 3726 weight class) and Koji Kimura (ranked 41 p4p, 417 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Felix Pappalardi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koji Kimura! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kimura fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kimura swings widly with a right hand
and Pappalardi connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Koji Kimura has been cut. Kimura tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Pappalardi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Kimura takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kimura closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pappalardi did well to prevent Kimura getting side control. Kimura throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Kimura is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Pappalardi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kimura is working away from the top position though. Pappalardi keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Kimura wants to work for an arm triangle but Pappalardi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pappalardi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pappalardi tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kimura scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Pappalardi keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Kimura throwing shots but Pappalardi is blocking nicely. Pappalardi avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kimura. Ground and pound from Kimura. That's two minutes gone in the round. Kimura wants to pass the guard but Pappalardi is defending well. Kimura wants to control but Pappalardi is keeping him busy. Kimura is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pappalardi is just riding it out for now. Kimura eventually gives up the hold. Kimura is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pappalardi sees it coming and defends easily. Pappalardi controlling the position for now.

My spies in Elite Island Training inform me that Kimura has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Kimura is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pappalardi has managed to free his arm - good work. Pappalardi definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Kimura has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kimura throwing shots but Pappalardi is blocking nicely. Pappalardi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kimura on the ground. Kimura missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kimura is working for a kimura but Pappalardi is defending it quite comfortably.
Kimura looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pappalardi with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Pappalardi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kimura is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Pappalardi is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Koji Kimura! A determined Koji Kimura didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
