Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roydell Gibbons! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trayvon Lewis! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lewis shoots and misses and Gibbons connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Gibbons definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. A combination from Gibbons does no damage. Lewis slips under a jab. Gibbons uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Lewis. Gibbons pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Roydell Gibbons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gibbons scores with a hook to the body. Lewis takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Gibbons takes a swing at Lewis's ribcage but misses. Lewis misses with a wild body shot. A counter left hand to the body from Gibbons misses its target. Lewis gets a takedown into half guard. Lewis seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Lewis is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Gibbons reverses the position - he's now on top in Lewis's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gibbons wants to stand but Lewis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lewis is adopting a defensive guard. Lewis pushes a forearm under Gibbons's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gibbons is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
