PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between VC Barre (ranked 2817 p4p, 2446 weight class) and Arthur King (ranked 336 p4p, 298 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, VC Barre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arthur King!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barre lands with an uppercut that bounces King off the cage and back into range.
King missing with a left hand there. Barre was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
King misses with a looping left.
King throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
King misses the shot to the body.
Barre keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from King.
King checks a leg kick.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Barre digs a good body shot into King's ribs.
Barre connects with a nice looking jab.
King avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barre was well out of range. Poor timing from King.

King drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King working the ground and pound but Barre is defending the strikes.
Barre's coaches at have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
The strikes coming from King are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
King looks up at the clock and then as Barre takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, King smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

King connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Barre some visible discomfort.

King sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Barre is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Barre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but King wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
King is chipping away with strikes.

Barre is trying to control King's posture but King avoids it.

Check out the look on King's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
King advances nicely into full mount.
King postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Barre looks a forlorn figure.

King throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barre is trying desperately to improve position.
King throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Barre because King loaded up on that one.
A nice elbow there by King.
King is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Barre can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

King looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Barre is rocked!
King cracks Barre with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Arthur King!
Our winner, Arthur King, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
