Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Latham! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Noguiera! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Noguiera.
Latham instigates a clinch. Latham throws a punch but it's blocked by Noguiera. Latham lands a right hand. Latham tries to throw a body punch but Noguiera avoids it by throwing Latham back against the cage. Noguiera jumps guard but Latham stands there with Noguiera around his waist. Noguiera gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Latham lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Latham misses with a body punch.
Latham scores with a shoulder strike. Noguiera working hard to break the clinch. Latham doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Noguiera takes a shot to the head. Latham tries to throw a body punch but Noguiera avoids it by throwing Latham back against the cage. Latham keeps control of Noguiera as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. A hook to the body from Latham.
Noguiera looks gassed! Latham stalling in the clinch.
Latham lands a body punch in the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Latham controlling the action here for a moment.
Latham lands a shoulder strike. Latham throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Noguieras head. Latham has Noguiera pushed against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Latham.
Latham has clasped his hands together around Noguiera's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Latham is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Noguiera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Noguiera stops Latham from passing to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Latham has hold of Noguiera's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Noguiera seems comfortable defending it but Latham has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Noguiera is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Noguiera is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Latham couldn't care less - he's delighted!
