PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24338 p4p, 24279 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kulata Bitok told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 32 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 36 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Buktot moves into range and clinches up with Bitok.

Bitok has clasped his hands together around Buktot's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot manages to get back to half guard.

Buktot tries to get to full guard but Bitok has control of the leg.
Buktot has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bitok is working away from the top position though.
Buktot wants to improve his position but Bitok is controlling well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

and Bitok counters with a one-two to the body.

Bitok gets caught napping as Buktot dives in and scores a takedown. Bitok manages to retain guard.
Bitok has control of Buktot's left arm, preventing Buktot from doing any damage.
Buktot prevents Bitok from getting back to his feet.

Bitok is pulling down on Buktot's head. It's preventing any offense from Buktot, at least for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bitok tries for a takedown but Buktot sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bitok misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Buktot shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bitok but Bitok pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bitok steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Buktot enables Bitok to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Buktot manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Bitok is trying to counter with his kicks.
Buktot closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bitok circles away.

Bitok closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Buktot quickly recovers to half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bitok misses with a takedown attempt - Buktot sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Buktot keeps Bitok at a distance using the push kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bitok leaves Buktot with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Bitok misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kulata Bitok showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Buktot keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bitok slaps away a takedown attempt from Buktot, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bitok has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bitok pinned against the cage. Bitok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Buktot tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bitok sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buktot somewhat.

Bitok fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And Buktot counters with a quick kick to the body but Bitok blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bitok stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bitok wants it to stay on the feet.

Bitok closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bitok is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Buktot moves into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bitok not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Dawindi Buktot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kulata Bitok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Buktot shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bitok napping and manages to drive through into side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Kulata Bitok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Bitok winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
