PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yawa Kiang (ranked 24331 p4p, 24256 weight class) and Way Nada (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 34 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 32 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Way Nada!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Nada shoots in for a takedown but Kiang shows good takedown defense.
Nada misses with a takedown attempt - Kiang sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Kiang looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Kiang shoots in for a takedown but Nada shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Nada drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Kiang defends it well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kiang enables Nada to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kiang manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nada engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kiang pulls Nada in close to his closed guard and prevents Nada from doing any damage or advancing position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Nada controls from within his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kiang is controlling Nada's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kiang keeping moving, preventing Nada from controlling successfully.
Kiang striking off his back but it's not causing Nada any problems.
Nada slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kiang wants to sweep here but Nada controlling him for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kiang looking to control but Nada passes into half guard.
Nada with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiang wants to control but Nada is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Way Nada dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kiang closes the distance and clinches up with Nada, looking for a takedown. Kiang pushes Nada against the cage but Nada circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And Nada responds with a good body kick, but Kiang manages to step out the way in time.
Nada stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nada wants it to stay on the feet.
Nada counters with a body kick.

Nada closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kiang quickly recovers to half guard.
Kiang won't allow Nada to pass to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang is holding on to half guard well.
Kiang trying to hold on to Nada's head to control him but Nada postures up.

Nada seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nada has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Kiang fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nada is trying to counter with his kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yawa Kiang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kiang.

Nada scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kiang has one foot on Nada's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Nada dives in and grabs Kiang's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kiang pushes down on Nada's head and hops out.
Kiang is looking to counter punch.
Kiang fails with the takedown.
Despite the aggression on Nada's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Nada is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kiang sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
It looked like Kiang was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kiang shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nada sprawls well. Nada wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kiang gets slowly back to his feet.
Nada only half commits to the counter leg kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Way Nada will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nada shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kiang manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kiang wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Yawa Kiang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Nada drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kiang dives on top into guard.

Way Nada is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Yawa Kiang showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Nada has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
