The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shankar shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Shankar is going olschool here, as he tries to force Nash to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Nash shrugs it off.
Nash is trying to stand up.
Nash is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Shankar has taken his back!
Shankar patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nash looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
Shankar has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Nash has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Nash is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Nash is taking damage to the body and head.
Nash is trying to stand back up.
Nash tries to escape but Shankar has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Shankar lands punches and elbows.
Shankar is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Nash won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Shankar off his unconscious opponent!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Andre Shankar!
