PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Taylor (ranked 2227 p4p, 1264 weight class) and Chris McCocker (ranked 0 p4p, 178 weight class). The key to victory for Bruce Taylor has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bruce Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chris McCocker!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Dirk Anderson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCocker manages to avoid it.
Taylor swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A big right from Taylor misses.
McCocker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
McCocker throws a jab but it's blocked by Taylor.
It looked like Taylor wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Taylor missing with a left hand there. McCocker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McCocker with the counter takedown but Taylor avoids it easily.
McCocker moves out of range of the strikes.
A swing and a miss from Taylor.
McCocker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Taylor.
McCocker drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Taylor defends it well.
Taylor throws a hook but McCocker blocks it.

Taylor feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends McCocker sprawling to the canvas! McCocker rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Taylor finish him?!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taylor misses with a hook.
Taylor lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

McCocker is rocked!

Taylor lands a big right hand that sends McCocker crashing to the mat! Taylor stays standing though and waves McCocker back to his feet!
McCocker is still on wobbly legs! Can Taylor finish him?
Taylor throws a jab but it's blocked by McCocker.
A big left from Taylor misses.
Taylor throws the left hand but McCocker avoids the punch easily.
McCocker uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Taylor.
McCocker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Taylor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Bruce Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McCocker scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
McCocker seems to have recovered his senses.

McCocker is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's one minute gone in the round.

McCocker seems to be looking for submissions.

McCocker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
McCocker passes to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McCocker has knee on belly and moves into mount.

McCocker is working for a guillotine from mount but Taylor frees his head quite easily.

McCocker is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Taylor has managed to escape the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Taylor has left one of his arms exposed and McCocker doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Taylor screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Chris McCocker!
Chris McCocker seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
