Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jar Boy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rush ! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boy has a takedown stuffed. Boy throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Boy fails to land the takedown. Boy fails with an attempt to clinch.
Boy takes the fight into the clinch. pulls Boy into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Boy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. swivels though and keeps the full guard. throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Boy stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Boy tries to clinch but is having none of it. shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Boy counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. is lucky that one didn't land flush. Boy is breathing heavily. gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Boy holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Boy fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jar Boy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rush . with a lazy takedown attempt and Boy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Boy counters with a good low kick that was not able to check.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boy fails in his attempt to clinch. Boy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Boy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Boy throws a head kick that semi-blocks.

Boy is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent. tries to reverse the position but Boy maintains control. tries to improve his position but instead Boy has taken his back! Boy has the hooks in. is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Boy doesn't have the hooks in and manages to turn into his guard.
pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Boy is keeping the position for now. works a leg free and moves into half guard. thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Boy's head. Boy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in 's guard. Boy trying to control but is working from the bottom. striking off his back, scoring a few points. looking to sweep here. No luck so far. had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Boy is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Boy's back instead. looking for the RNC. Boy rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boy moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Boy is trying to keep in close.

thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Boy's head. trying to control but Boy is working from the bottom. won't allow Boy to sweep him here. stands and throws Boy's legs to the side, diving into side control. Boy gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Boy defends it well. Boy manages to get to full guard.
must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Boy pushes off and gets back to his feet.

misses with a takedown attempt and Boy makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Boy lands with a kick to the temple. shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Boy throws a one two combo.

Boy utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Boy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Boy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Jar Boy dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Boy tries to clinch up. Boy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Boy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Boy unloading with bombs! is trying to reverse the position but instead Boy has taken his back - oops! Boy slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Boy jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boy's guard.

Boy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Boy is tying to control. wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. swats away the attempt to clinch by Boy. Boy moves in looking to clinch but pushes him off. shoots and misses and Boy counters with a two punch combo. Jar Boy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. shoots in but no luck this time. Boy stuffs the takedown. Jar Boy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rush . misses with a takedown and Boy makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. really felt that one! Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's three minutes gone in the round. misses with a takedown and Boy counters with a flying knee. Nice. Boy misses with a head kick.
has his takedown stuffed and Boy counters with a straight right hand. shoots and misses and takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Boy fails in his attempt to clinch. Boy tries to clinch but moves out of range. Boy wants to clinch up but keeps it at a distance. Rush has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boy doesn't succeed with the takedown and counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Boy is trying to stand.
Jar Boy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Boy keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Boy reverses the position - he's now on top in 's guard. Boy is looking to stand up but won't let him.
And that's the end of the fight! Jar Boy showed his dominance in that final round. Well Boy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
