Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Uchima Gonshiro (ranked 23839 p4p, 5844 weight class) and Chris Wilson (ranked 327 p4p, 308 weight class). Wilson has chosen The Final Countdown as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uchima Gonshiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Wilson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonshiro throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Wilson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gonshiro is in Wilson's guard. Wilson pulls Gonshiro in close to prevent any damage. Gonshiro postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wilson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gonshiro, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wilson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Wilson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gonshiro is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Wilson, into his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonshiro preventing the sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson keeping moving, preventing Gonshiro from controlling successfully. Gonshiro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wilson is keeping the position for now. Gonshiro tries to stand but Wilson is controlling from the bottom. Wilson has control of Gonshiro's left arm, preventing Gonshiro from doing any damage. Wilson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Gonshiro trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gonshiro advances position into side control! Gonshiro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wilson, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Gonshiro tries to stand but Wilson is controlling his head. Wilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gonshiro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gonshiro working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Wilson is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Gonshiro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Gonshiro wants to stand but Wilson has his arm trapped.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson tries to buck Gonshiro off but Gonshiro is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Wilson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gonshiro wants to control but Wilson is keeping him busy. Gonshiro is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wilson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. I wouldn't like to be where Wilson is right now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gonshiro tries to stand but Wilson is controlling his head. Gonshiro goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Wilson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gonshiro but great work by Wilson. Wilson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gonshiro knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wilson lands a decent elbow from side control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Uchima Gonshiro dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Wilson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gonshiro did well to prevent Wilson getting side control. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Wilson working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Uchima Gonshiro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gonshiro won't allow Wilson to pass to mount. Wilson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Gonshiro could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Wilson has cracked it and Gonshiro is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Wilson!
