Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jed Hall (ranked 1788 p4p, 1231 weight class) and Owen Savage (ranked 214 p4p, 148 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jed Hall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Owen Savage! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hall connects with a body shot that sends Savage's belly button to the back. Hall connects with the punch. Savage throws a leg kick which misses Hall's front leg but catches the back leg as Hall tries to avoid it. Jab, jab by Hall - just one landing. Hall cracks Savage with an open hand slap. Savage throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Jed Hall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Savage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hall missing with a left hand there. Savage was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Savage throws a hook but Hall blocks it. Savage ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Hall loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hall wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hall stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hall shoots in and bounces Savage off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hall postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Savage can do anything to dispel that myth. Hall lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Jed Hall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hall throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Savage is staying active underneath Hall, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hall thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hall keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Hall is nestled in close to Savage, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hall connects with a nice short shot to Savage's temple.

Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Savage was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall. Savage looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. It looks like Hall has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Hall dives in for a single leg takedown but Savage sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Savage softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Hall breaks the clinch.
