Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chael Sonnen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alexander Carter!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen takes one on the button.
Carter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sonnen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carter throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Sonnen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sonnen.
Carter manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Carter throws a punch but it's blocked by Sonnen.
Sonnen breaks from the clinch.
Carter looks to land a combination but Sonnen avoids it well.
Sonnen appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A low kick from Carter is predictable there
and Sonnen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Carter!
Sonnen is working Carter over with some ground and pound from side control.
Carter is looking to regain half guard here but Sonnen keeps moving and retains side control.

Sonnen throws an elbow but Carter slips to the side and avoids it well.

We've been hearing that Sonnen has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Sonnen is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Carter's shoulder. That is not cool.

Sonnen works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Carter tries to buck Sonnen off but Sonnen is having none of it.
