Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alonso Escovedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richie Venner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Escovedo's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Pantera " Fucking hostile". These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Matheus Silva and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escovedo shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Venner pinned against the cage. Venner gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Escovedo.
A left lands for Venner.
Venner pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Venner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Escovedo.

Venner's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Escovedo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Venner is trying to stand up.

Venner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Escovedo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
