Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Trip Bunga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dmitry Baskov! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bunga lands a nice looking body shot.
Bunga looks to land a body kick but Baskov moved away. Bunga throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Bunga tries to clinch but Baskov moves out of range. Bunga tries to clinch up but Baskov circles away and keeps his distance. Bunga throws a head kick but Baskov moves out of range.
Baskov closes the distance and pushes Bunga back into the cage. Baskov keeps control of Bunga as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Bunga has had enough of the clinch but Baskov keeps him there for the moment. Baskov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bunga walks away with a smile on his face. Baskov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Baskov doesn't manage to clinch there - Bunga circles away.
Baskov circles away from the clinch attempt and Baskov decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bunga's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bunga wants to stand but Baskov is controlling the position. Baskov throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bunga is looking to stand up but Baskov isn't so interested in that idea. Baskov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Baskov content to stall in guard here. Baskov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bunga keeping full guard, as Baskov tries to pass. Bunga might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Baskov won't allow Bunga to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Baskov circles away from the clinch attempt and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Baskov checks a low kick from Bunga. Bunga pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Baskov fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Baskov shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Baskov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bunga is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Bunga is breathing heavily. Baskov is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bunga can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Baskov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Bunga knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Baskov on the ground. Bunga is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Baskov trying to control but he's not successful this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baskov controlling his opponent. Baskov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bunga is looking to escape. Baskov fails to take his opponent's back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bunga's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Baskov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bunga is trying to stand up. Bunga is bucking up trying to escape but Baskov cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Bunga is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Baskov tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Baskov won't let Bunga get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Baskov landing strikes from the mount. Baskov looking to control and managing it successfully. Bunga taking shots to the head. Bunga taking shots to the head. Baskov unloading with bombs! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bunga is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Baskov locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Bunga is forced to tap!
