The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Ben Watson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whelan shoots in for a double leg but Iron Fist sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And Iron Fist tries to counter it with a takedown but Whelan pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Whelan closes the distance and clinches up with Iron Fist, looking for a takedown. Whelan pushes Iron Fist against the cage but Iron Fist circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Whelan fails with a takedown attempt.
It seemed like Iron Fist was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Iron Fist fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Whelan on the side of the head.
