Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Divine Intervention! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Butler Hickok! The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Steven Brown and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hickok steps into range and cracks Intervention with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Intervention flops backwards and Hickok dives into his guard looking to finish!
It looks like Divine Intervention has been cut. Intervention is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Intervention has a closed guard, preventing Hickok from standing up. Hickok wants to stand and escape but instead Intervention has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Intervention might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Intervention is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Intervention continues to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Intervention stands up from guard. Let's bang! Intervention looks to score with a jab to the body but Hickok is just out of range. Hickok bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Intervention! He dives into his guard looking to finish!
Intervention is rocked! Hickok would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Intervention pulls Hickok in close to prevent any damage. Hickok wants to stand but Intervention has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hickok is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Intervention is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Intervention avoids the body shot from Hickok.
Intervention looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hickok dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Hickok fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Intervention is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hickok connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Intervention covering up! Hickok comes in with a big uppercut and Intervention goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). James Butler Hickok! Our winner, James Butler Hickok, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
