PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Harry C Distacio (ranked 2490 p4p, 2468 weight class) and Haakon Cabrera (ranked 301 p4p, 298 weight class). Distacio kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Gravity Lies - Red. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harry C Distacio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Haakon Cabrera!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Distacio keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Distacio fires out a quick counter leg kick but Cabrera just manages to avoid it.
Cabrera keeps the fight on the outside.
Cabrera drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Distacio defends it well.
Cabrera connects with a looping right hand.
Cabrera misses with a looping left.
Distacio is looking for a counter combo.
Distacio throws a leg kick that is checked

so Cabrera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Distacio working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cabrera.
Cabrera postures up in Distacio's guard and throws a big left but Distacio blocks it.
Cabrera tries to free his leg and advance position but Distacio is retaining full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cabrera misses with a head shot. Distacio uses the momentum to regain guard.
Distacio pulls Cabrera in close to prevent any damage.
Cabrera throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Distacio works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cabrera postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Distacio is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cabrera, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cabrera manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Distacio manages to get himself to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Distacio has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Distacio there as he acknowledges the shot.

Cabrera fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Distacio checks it well.
Distacio jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Cabrera throws the left hand but Distacio avoids the punch easily.
Cabrera throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Distacio swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Cabrera is looking to chop away at Distacio's legs.
Cabrera has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cabrera lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Cabrera tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cabrera has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Distacio parries the strikes from Cabrera easily there. Cabrera is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Distacio to escape.

Cabrera throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Cabrera is working Distacio over with some ground and pound from side control.

Cabrera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Distacio knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Cabrera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Distacio can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Cabrera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
