PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dawindi Buktot (ranked 24293 p4p, 24234 weight class) and Kulata Bitok (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 23 - 33 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dawindi Buktot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 19 - 37 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kulata Bitok! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Buktot shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bitok is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Buktot shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bitok pinned against the cage. Bitok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Bitok follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bitok tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Buktot is in Bitok's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buktot showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Bitok wants to sweep here but Buktot controlling him for the moment. Buktot is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Buktot trying to control but Bitok is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bitok is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bitok is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Buktot defends it well. Buktot desperately trying to maintain half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bitok content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Bitok throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bitok stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bitok stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bitok wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dawindi Buktot. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bitok shoots in and gets a takedown into Buktot's guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Bitok controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kulata Bitok dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Buktot feints and as Bitok raises his hands in defense, Buktot changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Buktot content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Buktot is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Buktot is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Bitok has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Buktot is looking to defend but Bitok has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Buktot! Bitok pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Buktot taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kulata Bitok!
