Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chinweike Idowu (ranked 25014 p4p, 5610 weight class) and Umaru Usman (ranked 553 p4p, 531 weight class). Umaru Usman is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chinweike Idowu! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Umaru Usman! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Usman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Idowu bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Idowu drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Usman is pulling down on Idowu's head. It's preventing any offense from Idowu, at least for the moment. Idowu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Idowu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Usman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Idowu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Usman throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Idowu escapes and throws Usman's legs to the side, diving into side control! Usman tries to control but Idowu manages to take his back. Usman staying busy and making it hard for Idowu to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Usman wants to control his opponent's hands but Idowu gets his hands free. Usman covering up well under a barage of strikes. Idowu tries to get the hooks in deep but Usman pushed the leg off. Usman trying to control the action but Idowu just sinks the hooks in. Idowu trying to control momentarily.
Usman is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Idowu working for a choke but Usman is defending well. Usman looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Idowu's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Usman tries to escape but Idowu has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Usman tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Idowu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Usman is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Usman sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Idowu is thwarting Usman's attempts to control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Usman can do anything to dispel that myth. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Usman is controlling Idowu's trapped leg to prevent Idowu from advancing to side control. Usman is staying active underneath Idowu, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

You can see the frustration on Usman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Idowu tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. A bit of a lull in the action here. Usman is trying to control Idowu's posture but Idowu avoids it. Idowu in side control, throwing shots but Usman defends. Idowu working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Usman tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Idowu easily slips into full mount! Idowu punching from mount but Usman doing a good job of avoiding damage. Idowu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Usman is looking to escape. Usman wants to control but Idowu is having none of it. Idowu looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Usman tries to hold on but Idowu postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Idowu throws some wild stikes that Usman manages to avoid easily.
Usman looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Usman is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Idowu is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Usman's half guard. Usman keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Idowu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Usman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Usman is trying is best to control the position here. Idowu is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Usman can do to turn this around? Usman has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Idowu is working away from the top position though. Usman might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Idowu haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Usman is refusing to be controlled, as Idowu sits in half guard. Idowu is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Usman has managed to free his arm - good work. Usman wants to control but Idowu is keeping busy.

Idowu throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Idowu is trying to control. Usman wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Usman won't allow Idowu to pass to mount. Usman blocking the ground and pound attempt from Idowu. Usman is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Idowu is thwarting Usman's attempts to control the position. Idowu is looking for a kimura here.

It looks like he's just sitting there. Usman is positioning himself well to prevent Idowu advancing to mount. Idowu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Usman keeps working.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Usman drives through with a takedown into Idowu's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Usman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Idowu manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Usman has Idowu in his guard. Idowu wants to control from the top but Usman keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Usman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Idowu is aware though and is defending well. Idowu loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Idowu stands and steps away. Usman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Idowu tries to clinch up but Usman circles away and keeps his distance. Usman shoots in for a takedown but Idowu shows good takedown defense. Usman is breathing heavily. Idowu forces Usman back against the cage and clinches. Idowu turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Idowu working away. This has been an exciting period of action! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Idowu tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Usman keeping his opponent close. And that is the end of the round. Chinweike Idowu dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Idowu closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Usman to the mat! Usman manages to get full guard. Idowu trying to control but Usman is working from the bottom. Usman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Usman keeping moving, preventing Idowu from controlling successfully. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Idowu tries to bum rush Usman with a series of wild strikes but Usman uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Usman shoots in and drives through. Idowu sprawls well. Usman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Idowu pinned against the cage. Idowu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Usman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Idowu napping and manages to drive through into side control! Idowu wants to control but Usman postures up. Usman working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Usman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Usman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Idowu wants to control but Usman postures up. Usman is trying to get an arm triangle but Idowu is defending well. Idowu struggling a bit here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Usman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Umaru Usman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chinweike Idowu is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Idowu wants to control but Usman postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Umaru Usman. Well Idowu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
