PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Jimmy (ranked 4402 p4p, 4434 weight class) and Andy Ravage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jackson Jimmy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andy Ravage!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ravage wants to clinch up but Jimmy keeps it at a distance.
A little feinted left hand from Jimmy on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Jimmy closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ravage has picked Jimmy up - he's going for a ride! Ravage dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ravage scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Ravage trying to control the action but Jimmy is working from the bottom.
Ravage throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jimmy is looking to improve his position.
Jimmy wants to control but Ravage is keeping busy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jimmy is looking to improve his position.
Ravage trying to pass the guard but Jimmy defending well.

Ravage trying to control from half guard but Jimmy is working away.
Jimmy makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jimmy.
Jimmy is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ravage scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Ravage prevents Jimmy from getting back to his feet.
Jimmy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jimmy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jimmy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Ravage preventing the sweep.
Ravage throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jimmy works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ravage wants to control from the top but Jimmy keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A head kick misses from Jimmy.
Ravage dives in for a single leg takedown but Jimmy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jimmy clinches.
Jimmy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ravage wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Ravage manages to break the clinch.
Jimmy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jimmy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ravage.
Jimmy went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Jackson Jimmy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andy Ravage.
Ravage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ravage closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jimmy circles away.
Jimmy uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ravage.
Ravage misses with a wild body shot.
Jimmy was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Jimmy moves into the clinch successfully.

A quick uppercut on the inside from Jimmy.

Ravage jumps guard.
Jimmy working some strikes from top position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ravage is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jimmy gets to his feet. Ravage looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jimmy slaps away a takedown attempt from Ravage, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice takedown defense from Jimmy. No joy for Ravage on that attempt.
Jimmy is looking to counter with head kicks.
Ravage looks winded!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jimmy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ravage was covering up waiting for the punch and Jimmy finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Jimmy content to stall in guard here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jimmy scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Ravage has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jimmy is working away from the top position though.
Jimmy takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jimmy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Ravage is staying active underneath Jimmy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ravage gets back to full guard.
Ravage is trying to keep Jimmy in close.
Ravage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jimmy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ravage wants to sweep but no luck.
Jimmy is looking to stand up but Ravage won't let him.
Ravage is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ravage tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jimmy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ravage tries to clinch but Jimmy is having none of it.

Jimmy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jimmy is trying to control. Ravage wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Ravage wants to improve his position but Jimmy is controlling well.
Jimmy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Jimmy is working for a submission of some sort.
Jimmy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ravage with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jimmy in particular looking to stall.

Ravage trying to control but Jimmy postures up.
Jimmy is controlling the pace.
Ravage is refusing to be controlled, as Jimmy sits in half guard.
Jimmy is figuring out what he wants to do next.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Ravage is trying to control but can't.
Ravage is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jimmy leaves Ravage with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jimmy looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ravage!

Ravage bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jimmy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jackson Jimmy will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Ravage tries to clinch up but Jimmy circles away and keeps his distance.
Ravage is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Jimmy closes the distance and pushes Ravage back into the cage.
Ravage is working for takedown but Jimmy is calmly controlling the position for now.

Jimmy manages to break the clinch.
Ravage works over Jimmy's head and body with a nice combination.
Ravage shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
As Ravage looks to move away, Jimmy throws a big counter combo but Ravage just gets out of the way.

Jimmy is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Ravage bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Ravage scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jimmy manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Jimmy gets full guard.
Ravage stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jimmy swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ravage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ravage prevents Jimmy from getting back to his feet.
Ravage postures up in Jimmy's guard and throws a big left but Jimmy blocks it.
Ravage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jimmy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ravage is controlling him.
Ravage trying to control the position from guard on top but Jimmy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Ravage drives through with a takedown into Jimmy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Ravage doesn't manage to clinch there - Jimmy circles away.

Jimmy pushes Ravage up against the cage in a clinch.
Jimmy tries to pull guard but Ravage holds him up against the cage and eventually Jimmy drops back down to his feet.
Jimmy tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ravage smiles and moves away.

Jimmy closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jimmy breaks from the clinch.
Andy Ravage has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jackson Jimmy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jimmy.

Ravage explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

And that's the end of the fight!
Andy Ravage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jimmy has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
