Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Frost (ranked 23181 p4p, 3647 weight class) and Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 384 p4p, 284 weight class). John Frost has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Frost! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frost clinches with his opponent.
Frost wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kursiwa has him pressed against the cage. Frost manages to break the clinch.
Kursiwa shoots for a double leg takedown but Frost sprawls well. He's pushed Kursiwa's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kursiwa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Frost has Kursiwa up against the cage in a clinch.
Kursiwa is working for takedown but Frost is calmly controlling the position for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kursiwa tries for a takedown but Frost manages to get underhooks.
John Frost has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Liwa Kursiwa. Kursiwa is trying to trip Frost. He has hold of a leg but Frost is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kursiwa persists though and gets the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kursiwa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kursiwa wants to pass the guard but Frost is keeping the position. Kursiwa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Frost looking for a sweep. Not yet Frost, not yet. Kursiwa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Frost is keeping the position for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kursiwa accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kursiwa trying to control the position from guard on top but Frost is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kursiwa tries to free his leg and advance position but Frost is retaining full guard.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Frost throws a right and a left that Kursiwa avoids nicely. Frost moves in looking to clinch but Kursiwa pushes him off. Frost shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kursiwa sprawls well. Kursiwa wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Frost gets slowly back to his feet. Frost is looking to clinch. Frost tries to close the distance and clinch but Kursiwa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Frost tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Kursiwa counters with a series of strikes. Frost will be more careful next time no doubt. The fight stays on the outside here - Frost looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kursiwa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Frost tries to clinch but Kursiwa moves away enabling Kursiwa to counter with a crisp jab. Excellent takedown into side control there by Kursiwa. Kursiwa in side control, throwing shots but Frost defends. Kursiwa is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Frost is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kursiwa throws an elbow but Frost slips to the side and avoids it well. Kursiwa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Frost seems a little lost for a moment, as Kursiwa dominates the positioning.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frost regains half guard there - taking advantage of Kursiwa's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. Kursiwa moves nicely into side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kursiwa looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Kursiwa is looking to take a break and control but Frost is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Liwa Kursiwa dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Kursiwa tries to score a power double leg takedown but Frost sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kursiwa somewhat. Frost moves in looking to clinch but Kursiwa pushes him off. Frost clinches up against the cage. Frost wants to break the clinch but can't.
Kursiwa tries to score a body lock takedown but Frost shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kursiwa is looking for a takedown up against the cage. A short right from Kursiwa. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Frost tries to break the clinch but Kursiwa is controlling the position. Kursiwa has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Frost seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Kursiwa can turn it around. Kursiwa looking for a takedown. Kursiwa has Frost pressed against the cage, preventing Frost from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Frost tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kursiwa paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kursiwa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Kursiwa throws a right and a left that both miss. Frost tries to clinch up but Kursiwa circles away and keeps his distance. Frost is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Frost has had enough of the clinch but Kursiwa keeps him there for the moment. Kursiwa prevents Frost from breaking the clinch. Kursiwa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Frost is looking to clinch. And Kursiwa tries to counter it with a takedown but Frost pushes his down on his head and steps out. John Frost seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Frost shoots for a takedown but Kursiwa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Frost tries to clinch but fails miserably and Kursiwa counters with a three punch combo that has Frost backing up. Frost nods at Kursiwa to acknowledge the strikes. Frost tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kursiwa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Kursiwa clinches up against the cage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Frost is trying to push Kursiwa away but Kursiwa has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. I was talking to Frost's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Kursiwa drops down looking for an ankle pick but Frost pulls his leg out and moves away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kursiwa is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Kursiwa misses with a body kick. John Frost is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kursiwa fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Frost closes the distance but Kursiwa moves to the side and Kursiwa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Frost thinking. Frost tries to close the distance and clinch but Kursiwa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kursiwa fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kursiwa misses with a takedown attempt - Frost sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Frost moves in looking to clinch but Kursiwa pushes him off. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Liwa Kursiwa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round! Frost tries to clinch but Kursiwa is having none of it. Kursiwa feints the counter takedown. Kursiwa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Frost quickly recovers to half guard. Frost tries to kick Kursiwa off in order to stand up. Kursiwa Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Frost tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kursiwa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Kursiwa tries for a kimura but Frost is defending well. Kursiwa working the head and body with strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kursiwa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Frost, who protects the arm well. Kursiwa working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Kursiwa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Frost keeps working. Kursiwa has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Kursiwa connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Frost some visible discomfort.
Kursiwa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Frost rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Kursiwa's guard! Nice work there by Frost! Kursiwa throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Kursiwa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

and Kursiwa counters with a lovely shot to the body. Frost doesn't manage to clinch there - Kursiwa circles away.
Kursiwa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Frost defends well and Kursiwa ends up having to push Frost into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. An attempted straight right counter from Frost misses the target. Frost is looking to clinch. Kursiwa with the counter takedown but Frost avoids it easily. Frost closes the distance looking to clinch letting Kursiwa counter with a right hand.
